ALL
IRELAND STREET SOCCER FINALS 2007
A proud moment for the lads Christine Smith reports

Wednesday 30th May saw the 4th All Ireland Street Soccer finals
organized by Ireland’s Issues Magazine. Over Twenty street
teams representing various groups participated. Unlike previous
years weather conditions were atrocious with rain a constant feature
throughout the day. However this did not distract from the excellent
football produced in difficult conditions. As well as the mantle
of All Ireland Street Soccer champions the players also had the
incentive of a place in international team that will represent
Ireland in the forthcoming Homeless World Cup to compete for.
Throughout the day our coaching staff were carefully running the
rule over all the players and our coach Mick Pender will shortly
announce his panel.
The final was a very competitive affair with Warriors from Blanchardstown
overcoming Fusion from St Catherine’s 4-2. to take home
the Fair City trophy. The occasion also marked the presentation
of 2nd level coaching certificates to 8 of our street league participants
who successfully completed the course organized by the FAI. A
special word of thanks to Dublin City Council for the excellent
facilities provided by the Dublin Community sports centre Finglas,
the FAI and our sponsor Start Mortgages.
