Street League and World Cup Player Wins Football For All International Player Of The Year

Stephen Coleman First Street League player to win award, Shaun Anthony reports

At a star studded event organized by the Football Association of Ireland in The City West Hotel Dublin, Finglas native Stephen Coleman 28 was awarded the accolade Football for All player of the year.
Stephen is the first Street league player to receive this honour and it is a tribute to his courage skill and determination that he has overcome many obstacles in his life to get himself in a position where he was eligible for this award.
It’s being a fantastic year for Stephen, representing Ireland in the European championships in Poland before lining out for Ireland in the Homeless World Cup in Melbourne in December. It was in Melbourne that Stephen’s talents came to the fore enabling Ireland to finish in the top ten while also winning the Dignitary Cup, which is second only in status to the World Cup itself.
World Cup manager Dan Carey ‘ Stephen is a model player, I was very proud to have him in my team and he thoroughly deserves this award.’
‘I’m delighted for him was the reaction of Sean Kavanagh founder and chairman of the Street leagues he has the qualities that every team needs in a player, skill, determination, and honesty, those attributes serve you well both in football and in life,
Stephen gave credit to his teammates, manager coaches and all those who have helped him along the way.
Stephen also thanked those who supported the street leagues in words and deeds, Sponsors, Fundraisers, the FAI and all those individuals who have given their support. He also paid tribute to his family and loved ones who have long supported him in his journey.
Street league would like to thank the FAI for honouring the team at the recent International in Croke Park where they were presented to the crowd at half time in honour of their achievements in the Homeless World Cup.
