Ireland hammer Holland
Ireland 14 Holland 1

Longford's Mike Myers scores
Ireland look set to qualify for the quarter finals of the Homeless World Cup after completing a demolition job on group favorites Holland. After conceding a penalty in the opening 30 seconds -brilliantly saved by the impressive Trevor Owens - Ireland quickly took control and never looked back. Their all action quick fire tempo had the Dutch reeling under sustained pressure. The sheer quality of their passing and teamwork left the large crowd in awe and the Dutch chasing shadows as the goals followed. Clondalkin’s Mark O’Neill was the maestro behind every Irish move while Mathew Cullen at the back was a formidable presence and gave the Dutch no quarter. Goals from O’Neill, Mclawrence, Price, Myers, and the Limerick pair Daley and O Donohue completed the rout.
While Ireland have 4 more matches to play in this group, South Africa and Ghana tomorrow (Thursday) and Lithuania and Germany on Friday on the evidence of this performance they should be safely into the Quarter finals on Saturday.
“There is tremendous team spirit among the lads, when we put on that green jersey it's all the motivation we need and we put it all in on the pitch.”
