Comprehensive win for Ireland

Team Celebrate victory against romania

In the opening game of group G in the Homeless World Cup Ireland scored an impressive and in the end an easy win against a Romanian team that were completely outclassed.  With all the Irish players getting a run out during the course of the game it soon became obvious that this Irish team are well prepared both technically and physically for this World Cup campaign.   With Ciaran Murphy scoring an impressive 5 goals and Karl Jess. Jordan Murphy and Limerick’s Michael O’Connell all adding to the goal tally it augurs well for the goal scoring ability of this team and with a defense that gave the Romanians little opportunity we look in good shape to emerge from this group into the 2nd qualifying stage.
With Canada, Mexico and Cambodia still to come there is still a lot of football to be played but everybody in the Irish camp is thrilled with the way the lads performed today.

Next up Monday 27th Canada and Mexico. Mexico look a formidable side and this match should be the pivotal game of this group.

“The lads stuck to our game plan and the hard work they have put in over the last couple of months paid dividends today.”
