Penalty Shootout And Five A Side Raises €8000 For Homeless World Cup

Salesforce

Friday, 21 May saw  Salesforce.com and Business partners raise significant funds for the Irish Homeless World Cup organization Shaun Anthony reports.

What a fantastic day. The ‘lunch event’ penalty shootout in Sandyford Village Market raised almost 725 Euro’s .
Marco Nuti (organizer) said: “Like me, most people overestimated their goal instinct, but we could not have seen a more generous response”.  Thanks al lot to Des Vallely from The Irish Village Markets for co-sponsoring and co-organising  this event. (That food on the Friday market is delicious – good place for all to fill the bellies!)
The penalty event was the ‘warming-up’ for the main event: Cloud Clash 3.
10 teams competed for Glory, many customer- and business partner teams (2020 Management, Westbrook,  Informatica Cloud, Nimbus, Bluewolf, Saaspoint and Newvoicemedia)  joined in the fun as well, flying over teams from the UK. Business Partners  Kerensen and Fujitsu generously contributed, but did not send a team.
Gary Smith, 2020 Director, said: “We racked up the goals in Dublin, whilst the 2020 team enjoyed every second of the tournament.  The team can hold their heads high after playing some great football in the right spirit, whilst helping to raise money for The Homeless World Cup. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the salesforce.com organisers and other partners for such a fantastic time, and for playing the games in such a fun and fair spirit.  We hope any readers of this will support salesforce.com as they continue to raise money for the Homeless World Cup.  2020 will be returning to the tournament in 2011 and this time we hope we will go one step further and reach the final. Who knows, we might even be bringing the trophy home with us next year!”. Extra thanks to Tony Doyle from Astro.ie for refereeing and making the facilities available!
With the beautiful weather on their side, the Brazil theme continued with the Canary Yellow team (UKI AE’s) grabbing the coveted Cloud Clash 3 Trophy from the talented Westbrook team in a hotly contested final. Their amazing keeper, Keith Bourne, shared the tactics that helped to bring home the title: “keep it tight, keep shots low and (Aisling) work off the rebounds, football was the winner”.
The cooling down was at the Beacon Hotel afterwards, where Michael Harmon shared some anecdotes of the accomplishments of the Homeless World Cup organisation.
On behalf of Ireland’s Homeless World Cup team A very big thank you to Salesforce.com and all who supported this brilliant event.
