Ireland Mens team edged out against Northern Ireland in a tight and challenging match. On beautiful evening in Oslo the nerves were obvious, however Ireland opened brightly and scored early on when Anthony Dillon latched on a pass out of defence from Brandon Mylett and stretched to make it past the Northern Irish keeper in true style.
Ireland had an opportunity to stretch their lead when awarded a penalty but Dillon missed narrowly. This was the cue for Northern Ireland to come back strong and equalised after some fine keeping by man of the match Phillip Doyle, resulting in a half time tie on the score board.
The second half started with a flurry of goals from Ireland. Anthony Dillon netted early on, followed by a fine strike from Dillon Sheehan and Anthony Dillon struck for hat trick.
It looked like plain sailing from there but plucky Northern Ireland came back to score making it 4-3. Jamie Leahy twice hit Northern Ireland crossbar before Dillon brought his tally to four on the night with yet another spectacular score. It looked again like the tie was over however Ireland scored again on the break to push Ireland all the way, in one of the matches of the tournament thus far. Final score; Ireland 5 - Northern Ireland 4.
Ireland managed to hold a forceful Krgyz side off for a while but soon they began to score and with that their confidence and possession grew with strength. Vanessa Lynch managed to get a fantastic second goal on the board for Ireland but unfortunately it wasn't enough as Krgyz took the lead and continued their scoring blitz Krgyz ending in a disappointing result with Krgyz 7 - 2 Ireland at full time.
