In what was one of the most exciting games of the tournament thus far Ireland came back from a 3-1 deficit to win a pulsating game by an 8-6 margin.
As is typical of this Irish side they started at a tremendous pace and their quick passing movement created many chances however their accuracy in front goal did not match the build up, in contrast to a formidable Bulgarian side who clinically put away the first 3 chances they created.
With the score at 3-1 Ireland continued to press and eventually equalised to make it 3 apiece. What followed was nip and tuck Bulgaria went ahead, Ireland equalised, and so it went until at half time the score was 6-5 in favour of Bulgaria.
The second half saw Ireland maintained the frantic pace but Bulgaria began to falter. The Irish pressure paid off and they scored 3 gorals while Bulgaria failed to score at all. Ireland winning by a score of 8-6.
Ireland now face Norway & South Africa on Wednesday followed by Indonesia and Brazil on Thursday to determine who will go into the knock out stages of the competition. It is a very difficult group but if Ireland can find more luck in front of goal they are in with a decent chance.
